Black Coffee plays Hï Ibiza every Saturday in 2026, from 2 May to 3 October. It is his eighth season in the Theatre, and he was Hï’s first resident when the club opened in 2017. Nine Saturdays remain, closing on 3 October.

2026 at Hï Ibiza

Saturdays · 2 May to 3 October 2026 · The Theatre

Black Coffee holds the Theatre, Hï Ibiza’s main room, for the full season, with Skepta’s Más Tiempo running the Club Room alongside him. The billing is Afro house and what the club calls Afropolitan: slower and more melodic than the tech house that dominates most Saturday nights on the island, and built around a resident who plays every week rather than a rotating headline slot.

General admission starts at €85, and the two rooms are programmed as genuinely different nights rather than a main stage and an overflow.

The 26 September date is the one to note: Marco Carola in the Theatre alongside Black Coffee is not a pairing the island offers often. The closing on 3 October sits inside the wider 2026 closing-party run, which starts on 28 September and finishes on 12 October.

Why 2026 is the eighth season and not the tenth

The residency began in 2017, the year Hï Ibiza opened on the old Space site. Black Coffee was the club’s first resident. It ran through 2018 and 2019, then stopped, because Ibiza’s clubs did not open in 2020 or 2021. The season resumed in 2022 and has run every year since. Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, then twenty-two through twenty-six: eight seasons across ten years.

He has played with one arm since he was thirteen

On 11 February 1990, the day Nelson Mandela walked out of Victor Verster Prison, crowds gathered across South Africa to celebrate. A vehicle drove into one of them in Durban. Nkosinathi Maphumulo, then thirteen, suffered a brachial plexus injury and lost the use of his left arm permanently.

He has DJed one-handed for his entire career. It is the detail most often mentioned about him and the one he has been most consistently uninterested in discussing, and both of those things are worth knowing before you watch him play.

Durban, jazz school, and a Grammy

Born Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo on 11 March 1976 in eThekwini, he studied Jazz Studies at Technikon Natal, now Durban University of Technology, before releasing his first album under the Black Coffee name in 2005.

The studio albums: Black Coffee (2005), Have Another One (2007), Home Brewed (2009), Pieces of Me (2015) and Subconsciously (2021).

Subconsciously was released on 5 February 2021 on his own Soulstic Music, with Pharrell Williams, David Guetta, Diplo and Usher among the guests. “Drive”, with David Guetta and Delilah Montagu, entered the US Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart at number 31. The album passed 100 million streams in its first year.

It won Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 64th Grammy Awards in April 2022. It was his first Grammy, and the first time the category had gone to a South African artist. He has also won eight South African Music Awards, four DJ Awards and two Metro FM Awards.

What the night is actually like

Two things distinguish it from the rest of the Hï calendar. The first is tempo: Afro house sits lower than the island’s default, and the Theatre is programmed to build rather than peak on arrival. The second is that Black Coffee plays every week of the season, which means the room has a memory: the same crowd, the same progression, refined across five months.

If you want the loudest version of it, go to the closing. If you want the best version of it, go in early September, when the season has found its shape and the island has not yet filled with people ticking off a final weekend.
