Boy George

Boy George has no confirmed Ibiza date for 2026: Pacha's Saturday Flower Power, where he guested three times in 2025, has Roger Sanchez as its new resident this season. His DJ career predates Culture Club's fame: a first booking in 1981, then More Protein from 1989, a 1996 Essential Mix with Pete Tong, and a 2020 Hot Since 82 collaboration.

Boy George has no confirmed Ibiza date for 2026: Pacha’s Saturday Flower Power, where he guested three times in 2025, has Roger Sanchez as its new resident this season. His DJ career predates Culture Club’s fame: a first booking in 1981, then More Protein from 1989, a 1996 Essential Mix with Pete Tong, and a 2020 Hot Since 82 collaboration.

A first booking in 1981, years before Culture Club broke

Boy George’s first booking as a DJ came in 1981, when the London club promoter Phillip Sallon hired the then-unknown George O’Dowd to play at Planets, his new night in Piccadilly. That was a year before Culture Club’s ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me’ spent three weeks at number one in the UK. He is now known first as Culture Club’s singer, but the DJ work has run alongside and after that career for over four decades.

He formed the label More Protein with Jeremy Healy in 1989, after struggling to place Healy’s E-Zee Possee track ‘Everything Starts With an E’ anywhere else. It was a song about ecstasy, and mainstream labels wouldn’t touch it. That record, catalogue number PROT 1, became the label’s first release. Its other early project was Boy George’s own band, Jesus Loves You: ‘Bow Down Mister’, inspired by an encounter with the Hare Krishna movement in India, reached number 27 in the UK and number 2 in Austria in 1991.

House records and a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

His most club-facing solo single, ‘Love Is Leaving’, came out on the Italian label Time Records in 1996. Written and produced with the German trance DJ Mike Koglin, it reached number three in Italy and number one in Israel in March 1997, with club remixes from Alex Natale and Molella.

On 28 January 1996 he played a back-to-back BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix with Pete Tong and Paul Bleasdale, recorded live at the Que Club in Birmingham. At the time it was dance radio’s most influential UK slot. Two years later he mixed one half of Ministry of Sound’s The Ibiza Annual (1998), opposite Judge Jules on the other disc.

He placed on DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll three times in the 2010s: number 80 in 2010, number 90 in 2011 and number 89 in 2014. In 2011 he co-founded the label VG Records with fellow DJ Marc Vedo, releasing house tracks under both their names.

Ibiza, on and off since the 1990s

Space Ibiza’s own site carries an archived write-up of a Boy George set at Café Olé, the club’s day-into-night room, headlining a ‘United G.A.Y. Nations’ party alongside Paul Heron and Danny Leblack. The piece is undated, but it necessarily predates Space’s closure in 2016.

By 2014 he was playing Café Mambo on the San Antonio sunset strip; interviewed by DJ Mag that year, he described his approach behind the decks: ‘I’ve gone back to playing what I like, no compromise. The audience should not dictate the art-form. I like bass and vocals.’

His most recent Ibiza booking was three Saturdays guesting at Pacha’s long-running Flower Power party in 2025, on 7 and 28 June and 5 July. That season’s line-up also carried Masters at Work, Roger Sanchez and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. For 2026, Flower Power’s Saturday residency (13 June – 29 August) has gone to Roger Sanchez outright, and no Ibiza venue has a Boy George date listed for the season.

Two house collaborations since 2020

In 2020 the Sheffield DJ-producer Hot Since 82 released ‘Body Control’, featuring Boy George’s vocal alongside Jamie Jones, on Knee Deep In Sound as part of his debut album Recovery (27 November 2020). Hot Since 82 has said the collaboration took five to six years to find its shape after early attempts felt ‘too dark’ for what he wanted.

In August 2025 the producer Walther released ‘Getting High (On Your Own Supply)’ featuring Boy George on Music For Dreams, the Copenhagen deep-house label. It is his most recent dance release, and shows the studio work continued past that summer’s Ibiza dates.

What the night is actually like

There’s no Boy George night to plan an Ibiza trip around in 2026. Flower Power’s Saturday resident is now Roger Sanchez, and Resident Advisor, Ibiza Spotlight and Tickets Ibiza all list nothing for him on the island this season. What his catalogue offers instead is range: a genuine trance and house discography going back to 1996, a Ministry of Sound Ibiza compilation from 1998, and, as recently as 2020 and 2025, dance features alongside two of the genre’s current names.

If he does return to the island, the 2025 pattern looks more likely: a handful of Saturday guest slots at Pacha rather than a season-long residency. His catalogue has never carried a Hï- or Ushuaïa-scale booking on Ibiza. Aggregator listings for Pacha and Café Mambo, both places he’s played before, are where a late addition would most plausibly surface.
