Who we are

Trust the DJ operates the website at https://trustthedj.com and the Trust the DJ WhatsApp service. This policy explains what personal data we collect through both, why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have. If you have any questions, email us at matt@trustthedj.com.

The website

When you visit trustthedj.com our hosting provider records standard server logs, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. We use these logs to keep the site secure and to understand how it is used. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions and, where you allow it, for analytics that tell us which pages are read and how visitors arrive. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.

If you email us or contact us through the site we keep your message and contact details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry.

The WhatsApp service

When you message Trust the DJ on WhatsApp we receive your phone number, the name on your WhatsApp profile and the content of the messages you send us, including any images or documents. We use this information to answer your questions, to help you find events, artists and venues, and, if you ask us to, to arrange tickets, tables, guest list places and transport with the venues and partners involved.

Replies are generated in part by automated systems, including artificial intelligence, and may be reviewed by a member of our team. Messages between you and our WhatsApp business account are transmitted through WhatsApp, which is provided by Meta Platforms. Meta’s own privacy policy governs how Meta handles your data on WhatsApp. We store the conversations we have with you on our own systems so that we can follow up on bookings and requests.

We will only send you messages outside of a conversation you have started, for example news about an artist or venue you have chosen to follow, if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and we will stop those messages straight away.

Who we share your data with

When you ask us to arrange something, we pass on only the details needed to complete it. That may include your name, phone number, party size and booking details, shared with the venue, ticketing provider, transport operator or other partner fulfilling your request. Those partners are responsible for how they handle your data once they have it, and we recommend reading their own privacy notices.

We also use service providers to run our website, host our data, deliver messages and process conversations. These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. Some of them may be located outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, in which case we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

We may disclose your data where the law requires it or to protect our rights, our users or the public. We do not sell your personal data.

Why we are allowed to use your data

We process your data on the following legal bases: to perform the service you have asked for, including arranging bookings; with your consent, for optional messages and analytics; and for our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving our services, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights.

How long we keep your data

We keep WhatsApp conversation data for up to 24 months after our last exchange with you, unless we need it for longer to deal with a dispute or a legal obligation. Records of bookings and payments are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require. Website logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to those obligations.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these rights, email matt@trustthedj.com or message us on WhatsApp. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos in Spain or the Information Commissioner’s Office in the United Kingdom.

Children

Our services relate to nightlife and are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your data seriously.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be announced on the website or, where appropriate, by message.
